Starr Regional Medical Center welcomes Patrik Centerwall, MD

Starr Regional Medical Center announces that Patrik Centerwall, MD, has joined its staff and will provide family medicine services to patients in Athens, Charleston and the surrounding communities.

“Dr. Centerwall’s training and experience in treating chronic conditions and injuries, as well as providing preventative medicine services to patients, is an excellent addition to our team of family medicine providers. He is also fluent in English and Spanish,” said John McLain, chief executive officer of Starr Regional Medical Center. “There is an increasing need for bilingual providers in our area and Dr. Centerwall’s expertise is important as Starr Regional Medical Center strives to meet our region’s evolving healthcare needs and make our community healthier.”

Dr. Centerwall graduated from the University of Montemorelos in Mexico in 2016. Following graduation, he served as a physician and director of Rural Community Clinic in General Teran, Mexico, then cared for patients at UniMedic – Rural Family Medicine Clinic. He completed a family medicine residency at Samaritan Health Services in Corvallis, Oregon, in 2023. Dr. Centerwall specializes in family medicine, preventative medicine, joint injections for shoulders and knees, bursa injections, skin biopsies, sports injuries, Cryotherapy and nutrition. He also is a certified medical examiner through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which certifies him to complete Department of Transportation physicals for commercial motor vehicle drivers. Dr. Centerwall is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and being the favorite uncle. He is a self-proclaimed outdoorsman who enjoys horseback riding, hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking, mountaineering and camping.
