iThe Starr Regional Infusion Services department provides patients options for receiving treatments closer to home. Treatments for cancer diagnoses as well as infusion care for medical conditions such as arthritis, anemia, Crohn’s Disease and Osteoporosis are offered.
We are dedicated to assisting you and your loved ones through all of the stages of cancer treatment and follow-up. The Infusion Services department has been providing compassionate, convenient, high-quality care to patients in Athens and the surrounding area for more than 25 years. It is located on the hospital campus at 705 Cook Drive, Suite 201, Athens. Daryl Pierce, MD, MS, serves as the
Dr. Daryl Pierce specializes in hematology and oncology and has more than 28 years of medical experience. He is a 1995 graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, La. Following graduation, Dr. Pierce completed residencies in preliminary medicine, internal medicine and Hematology/Oncology from 1995 through 2001 at Pennsylvania State University, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Penn. He is board certified in Oncology, Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Internal Medicine.
He earned a Master of Science in Healthcare Management in 2012 from the University of Texas, Dallas - School of Management. Dr. Pierce has also received multiple Certificates of Achievement in areas related to business management, leadership and finance from Tulane University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Villanova University.
Throughout his career he has served in leadership positions, including serving as Home Health Medical Director for Medical Services of America Home Health & Hospice in Wise, Va.; Cancer Medical Director for Southwest Virginia Cancer Center; Cancer Medical Director and Chair of the Department of Medicine at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn.; and Hospice Medical Director for Amedisys in Kingsport, Tenn.
Dr. Pierce's hobbies include traveling, various sports activities, reading and teaching/mentoring.
In addition to serving as the medical director of Infusion Services, Dr. Pierce practices hematology and oncology at Starr Regional Cancer & Hematology Clinic.
