Starr Regional Medical Center Names 2024 Mercy Award Winner
June 27, 2024
Starr Regional Medical Center recently announced that Vania King, CPCS, has been recognized as the facility’s 2024 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
Established in 2001, the Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.
“At Starr Regional Medical Center, we are committed to advancing Lifepoint’s mission of making communities healthier, and our devoted team members are critical to this work – especially Vania King,” said John McLain, CEO of Starr Regional Medical Center. “We are so proud to recognize her positive contributions to improving the overall health of our patients, supporting their families, and serving our community. Vania always goes the extra mile to serve those around her and is a true champion of our caring culture at Starr Regional.”
Vania, who serves as the Medical Staff Coordinator at Starr Regional Medical Center, was selected as this year’s Mercy Award winner for her heart for building meaningful relationships and showing sincere empathy and support for those around her. Vania’s colleagues and friends submitted nominations for the award on her behalf, recognizing her for being an exceptional employee and community member, as well as being a servant leader, inspiring others through her strong work ethic, positive attitude and service unto others.
Each facility winner, including Vania, is considered for Lifepoint’s 2024 companywide Mercy Award. A selection committee names 60 semifinalists for the companywide award to attend events in Nashville, Tenn. Vania was named a semifinalist and is invited to Nashville where the companywide winner will be announced and honored during a ceremony in August.
