Starr Regional Medical Center welcomes Waed Alswealmeen, MD

Starr Regional Medical Center announced that Waed Alswealmeen, MD, has joined its staff and will offer general surgery services to patients in McMinn County and the surrounding communities. Dr. Alswealmeen is a board-certified general surgeon.

“Waed has experience and training in treating a range of conditions requiring endoscopic and laproscopic surgery, including gallbladder, hernias, colon and rectal cancer and breast cancer. She is an excellent addition to our team of providers,” said John McLain, chief executive officer of Starr Regional Medical Center. “There is an increasing need for surgical services in our area, and Waed’s expertise is important as Starr Regional Medical Center strives to meet our region’s evolving healthcare needs and make our community healthier.”

Dr. Alswealmeen graduated from the University of Jordan School of Medicine, Amman, Jordan, in 2013. Following graduation, she completed a general surgery residency at Abington Jefferson Health in Abington, Pa., and a colon and rectal surgery fellowship with Robert Wood Johnson University in New Brunswick, N.J. She is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and a member of the American College of Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons and American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
