The Starr Regional Medical Center family is saddened by the recent death of Carl Quinn Osborn, MD.
Dr. Osborn was an orthopedic surgeon for nearly 50 years. He received his medical degree from University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in 1977 and completed an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He practiced medicine in South Carolina and then Knoxville, Tenn.
In 2007, he moved to Athens and started Athens Bone & Joint, which was located in the Athens Professional Building, and became a member of the medical staff of Starr Regional Medical Center. Dr. Osborn served our hospital and community in various roles, including chair of surgery for the 2013 year. In 2015, he joined Starr Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. He continued to care for members of our community as a non-operating orthopedic physician at Tennessee Valley Bone & Joint beginning in 2020.
Dr. Osborn was an advocate for children and animals. His family respectfully requests donations in his memory be made to CASA Corridor of East Tennessee or to the Good Samaritan Veterinary Care Assistance Fund, c/o Emily Roberts, at Athens Small Animal Hospital.
